The Public Works Department maintains the City Parks, streets, water/sewer utilities and the 990,000 gallon a day capacity Waste Water Treatment facility amongst many other duties. The Public Works Department is crucial in ensuring the functionality and quality of community infrastructure and services. They are highly skilled and dedicated employees whom are constantly improving services offered to the citizens of Harrah and take tremendous pride in the community they serve. Their responsibilities typically include:

  • Infrastructure Maintenance and Repair: Managing, maintaining, and repairing public infrastructure such as roads, bridges, sidewalks, and stormwater systems to ensure safety and usability.
  • Water and Sewer Services: Overseeing water treatment plants, distribution systems, and wastewater management to provide clean water and effective sewage disposal.
  • Public Facilities Management: Maintaining and managing municipal buildings, parks, and recreational facilities to ensure they are safe and well-kept.
  • Solid Waste Management: Overseeing trash collection, recycling programs, and waste disposal to maintain cleanliness and sustainability in the community.
  • Project Planning and Implementation: Developing and supervising construction and improvement projects for public infrastructure, ensuring compliance with regulations and efficient use of resources.
  • Environmental Management: Implementing policies and projects to promote sustainability, such as stormwater management, erosion control, and energy-efficient initiatives.
